Snow may be falling on the UK early this year, with forecasters predicting a winter full of the wonderful white stuff. And for the second year, the Fairy Photographer is running her magical Snow Fairy photo sessions.

The first Snow Fairy sessions were a great success last year. The fairy dell was transformed into a winter wonderland, with winter flowers, plants and, of course, a covering of snow! The images captured were just magical.

The Snow Fairy idea came to Caroline, the Fairy Photographer, when there was heavy snow in her garden one year. She asked her daughter to pose outside as a Snow Fairy so she could take some photographs to get a feel for the snowy shoot.

“Capturing some fairy photos in the real snow gave me a really good sense of how to decorate the dell and how I could work the lighting to recreate that snowy feel,” Caroline explains.

Last year, visitors to the Snow Fairy Dell saw it as an opportunity to get some very lovely, personalised Christmas presents.

As with the other Vintage Fairy Photoshoots, the children arrive at the studio and are taken for a magical fairy makeover.

“We still use the fairy dresses and wings, but with a few additional wintry costume touches “, Caroline says.

Then, the fairies are taken over to the snowy dell in Caroline’s studio, holding a special fairy lamp to guide their way. The children spend time exploring the dell, searching for fairy dust and demonstrating their fairy moves, while Caroline talks to them and takes their photos.

“It really is a very special shoot,” Caroline says. “The children are just starting to get excited about Christmas coming and the fairy photoshoot is a wonderful part of that.”
